Surgery, injectables and medical options: what each does, recovery, cost and risks.
Hardmaxxing
Hardmaxxing means permanent or medical changes. Most of it is real medicine with real results, and real risks. Here's what each option does, what recovery looks like and what it costs.
Before you book anything
Max out softmaxxing first: get lean, fix skin and hair. It changes what you actually need.
Use a board-certified surgeon in the right specialty (facial plastic, plastic, or oral and maxillofacial for jaws).
See their before-and-afters of real patients with faces like yours.
Ask about their complication and revision rates, and what revisions cost.
Get two or three consultations. Walk away from anyone who pressures you.
If you can't stop thinking about a flaw others don't notice, talk to a professional first. That can be body dysmorphia, and surgery rarely fixes it.
Nothing matches that search.
Injectables
Non-surgical, mostly temporary. The usual first step into hardmaxxing.
HA fillers: chin, jaw, cheeks
Adds projection and definition. Can fake a stronger chin or jawline.
Recovery
A few days of swelling
Rough cost
$600–1,000 per syringe; jaws often need 4–10
Risks
Bruising, lumps, migration. Rarely, filler blocks a blood vessel, which can cause skin death or blindness; choose an experienced injector. Dissolvable with hyaluronidase.
HA fillers: lips and tear troughs
Fuller lips; fills hollow under-eyes.
Recovery
A few days
Rough cost
$600–1,200 per syringe
Risks
Swelling, lumps; tear troughs are a high-skill area with vascular risks.
Botox: masseters
Slims a wide, muscular jaw from the front.
Recovery
None; results in 2–6 weeks, last 3–6 months
Rough cost
$400–1,000
Risks
Weaker chewing, uneven smile. Can make a jaw look weaker if you wanted width.
Botox: forehead and brows
Smooths lines; a small brow lift.
Recovery
None
Rough cost
$200–600
Risks
Droopy brow or lid if placed badly.
Kybella
Dissolves fat under the chin with injections.
Recovery
1–2 weeks of swelling per session; usually 2–4 sessions
Rough cost
$1,200–1,800 per session
Risks
Swelling, numbness, rare nerve injury affecting your smile.
Skin boosters / biostimulators
Polynucleotides, Sculptra, Radiesse: improve skin quality or stimulate collagen.
Recovery
Days
Rough cost
$500–1,500 per session
Risks
Lumps; Sculptra and Radiesse can't be dissolved.
Skin and hair procedures
Laser resurfacing
CO2 or fractional lasers for acne scars, texture and sun damage.
Recovery
1–2 weeks of redness (CO2 longer)
Rough cost
$1,000–5,000
Risks
Pigment changes, especially on darker skin; choose the right laser for your skin tone.
RF microneedling
Needles plus heat for scars and tightening.
Recovery
2–5 days
Rough cost
$600–1,500 per session
Risks
Redness; burns if done badly.
Chemical peels
Exfoliate for texture, spots and acne marks.
Recovery
Days to 2 weeks depending on depth
Rough cost
$150–3,000
Risks
Pigment changes, scarring with deep peels.
Hair transplant (FUE / FUT)
Moves hair from the back of your head to thinning areas.
Recovery
1–2 weeks to look normal; full result in about 12 months
Rough cost
$5,000–15,000+
Risks
Shock loss, scarring, bad design. You still need finasteride or similar to keep your native hair.
PRP for hair
Injects your own platelet-rich plasma into the scalp.
Recovery
None
Rough cost
$500–1,500 per session
Risks
Mixed evidence; works best alongside proven treatments.
Scalp micropigmentation
Tattooed dots that mimic a buzz cut or add density.
Recovery
Days
Rough cost
$1,500–4,000
Risks
Fading or color shift over the years.
Facial surgery
Permanent. Get lean first: fat loss changes what you actually need.
Rhinoplasty
Reshapes the nose: hump, tip, width, breathing.
Recovery
1–2 weeks visible; swelling settles over 12 months
